Selena Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, is grateful for their “incredible” relationship this holiday season.
On Thursday, Teefey, 47, shared a sweet carousel of photos on Instagram of herself spending precious moments with the “Single Soon” singer, 31, over the years, just in time for the Holidays thanks.
“Where we are today is amazing,” Teefey wrote.
On the cover is a photo of Teefey holding Gomez when she was just a baby. “We have come a long way to get here and most importantly, we are still family first and foremost,” her caption continued.
He then explained that the emotional burden did not end that day.
“The last photo is me holding Gracie, who was born a few days later. Gracie’s next clip!!! “XO.”
Teefey welcomed Gomez in 1992 and the star has been open about her mother’s impact on her growing up.
After marrying Brian Teefey in 2006, Teefey and her husband welcomed daughter Gracie in 2013.
“Obviously I was a teen mom with Selena and that judged me a lot,” Mandy told ET in a March 2017 interview. With all of that, and when I got pregnant, I think that’s what caused it, because I thought, ‘Okay, I have someone else depending on me’. I had to be honest’ and that’s when I started working hard. I said, ‘I wouldn’t let her have the education I had.'”
In the previous E! In particular, the star of Only Murders in the Building gave his opinion. “Having me at 16 is definitely a big responsibility,” Gómez said. “My mother gave up everything for me and worked three jobs.”
The Rare Beauty founder also expressed gratitude for her mother’s sacrifice.
“When I started working, my mother was the one who helped me through most of it. Everything about me becomes a little bit of what my mother went through,” Gomez told Time when the publication introduced her to TIME Firsts, a multimedia project with 46 creative women.
“She had the ability to make me feel like I was still capable of doing anything I wanted.”
