Max Verstappen ends the 1 F2023 season with a record 19 races victories after he finished first in Abu Dhabi. It was Verstappen who set the old record with 15 wins in 2022, and with this season he has won 19 of 22 races, thereby owning the most dominant winning season in the history of the sport.
Verstappen owns a series of records after the 2023 season
There were not many spikes in the final race of the season, Verstappen leading in 52 out of 58 races and finishing first with a gap of 18 and 20 seconds respectively over Charles Leclerc and George Russell. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez slipped into the top 3 by about 1 second behind Russell, while Lando Norris finished 5th. Former champion Lewis Hamilton finished 9th.
On the drivers’ points standings, Verstappen’s 575 points is also a record. Perez finished second with 290 points less, thereby making the difference between the top two positions the largest in F1 history. Hamilton finished the season in 3rd place.
The Red Bull team won a record 860 points, more than double the points of the team behind Mercedes 409. Thus, Verstappen’s points alone are more than those of all other teams.
